Our Services

Family Support

  • Assistance with the purchases of adaptive equipment for those
    without Medicaid or other coverage.
  • Funding for parent to attend conferences and seminars relating
    to their child’s disability.

Programs

Bridges Day Habilitation Program
is a day activity and training program, teaches personal care, community and pre-employment skills to young adults with multiple disabilities.

Community Integration
is provided to individuals who live at home or in a group setting. Supporting independent activities and decision making while teaching the skills necessary to live and work in one’s own neighborhood.

Independent Support Living
provides supervision and training for individualized supported living arrangements for men and women with severe disabilities. The residences, each serving no more than three people, are integrated into the neighborhoods of the community and are provided through a contract with Department of Mental Health

Transportation
is provided to individuals employed at the Northeast Missouri and Monroe City Sheltered Workshops, as well as a variety of supported employment work sites. MCSDD operates a daily transportation route with door-to-door services in Palmyra and Hannibal.

Respite care
provides funding for families to purchase attendant services to enable them to attend a personal business and other concerns and is provided through a joint effort with the Hannibal Regional Office.


Recreation

Silver and Gold Friends Summer Day Camp
serves children enrolled in special education classes for grades 1 through 12. The camp provides supervised recreation activities for children who would otherwise be unable to attend camp due to the severity of their disabilities.

Athlete’s Day
brings opportunity to compete in various track style events. Disabled athletes from near and far compete in this popular event that is held annually.

Consumers’ Night Out
makes local events available after hours.

Special Olympics
events are made available for those eligible. Participants are engaged in local district, regional, and state events through Special Olympics of Missouri.

Camp Yagottawanna
is a weekend camp near Florida, Missouri. Several recreational events are offered and the opportunity to make new friends.


Service Coordination

What can service coordination provided by Marion County Services for the Developmentally Disabled offer you?

  • Time spent with you developing a working plan to address the
    identified supports needed.
  • An active role in all aspects of services you receive.
  • Assistance in finding community resources.
  • Monitoring of services that you receive to guarantee quality.
  • Assistance in completing paperwork.
  • Creativity and flexibility of time and resources offered.
  • Information in a timely manner.
  • Accountability of services authorized and money allocated.
  • Advocacy assistance.

Why are we doing service coordination?

In July, 2008 Marion County Services and the Department of Mental
Health entered into a partnership to provide local service coordination.
The goals of this partnership are to:

  • Reduce caseload sizes.
  • Meet the needs of individuals in a more time and efficient manner.
  • Enhance service coordination in the county and provide quality
    services to individuals and families.
  • To provide a more flexible service delivery system.

  • Will provide your service coordination services. This will take place at
    your annual individual service planning meeting or at any time you desire.
  • Response to phone messages and other communications in a timely manner.
  • We will listen to what you are saying.
  • An opportunity to share your ideas on how we can improve or
    change our service coordination.
  • You will have the lead in planning the supports you need.
